And there goes the 2011-2012 NBA Season
The NBPA today voted down the owner’s latest proposal, pushed to disband the union and are now headed to court to sue the NBA. What does that mean? Basketball won’t be back until October of 2012, if we’re lucky.
This is normally where I’d say something clever or witty, but fuck this…
Rumor has it Samardo Samuels got himself a new job to last him through the lockout after last night’s outburst on Twitter.
It’s a cold Thursday night in Cleveland. Samardo Samuels is snuggling up on the couch with his iPad, getting ready for Big Bang Theory. Suddenly, he has an idea for a tweet. A tweet so good, it had to be sent out immediately. No time to think it over or second guess it. Oh no, it had to be dropped onto the internet as soon as possible. And so, it begins:

Meanwhile, I’m on my couch, waiting for news on the lockout because I’m a total sucker like that. I read a tweet so dumb that my mind shuts down for a moment. I read it again. Yes, it says what I think it says. Yes, it’s both a humblebrag and offensively homophobic. I respond:

But I’m not the only one to notice the tweet:

Samardo responds:

We inquire further:

Samardo clarifies that he’s not homophobic:

The Internet collectively scratches it’s head:

Samardo yet again clarifies:

It suddenly makes sense. Samardo Samuels is a complete fucking moron:

But it turns out that we were all wrong. Turns out it that Samardo’s (Verified) Twitter account had been temporarily turned into a fan page and someone else had sent out the offending tweet:

To prove it, Samardo immediately went back to Tweeting what he typically does, incoherent garbage:

The offending fan who hijacked Samardo’s Twitter page is later identified:

Do yourself a favor and follow all the I Go Hard Now guys and everyone else involved with this on Twitter. Seriously, they’re the best and I was literally in tears during this whole thing. I feel like this is also a good time to point out that all of these Tweets are going to be preserved forever in the Library of Congress. Thank’s for being you Samardo!

More bad news. The results of yesterday’s meeting between the NBA and NBPA is a deadline of Wednesday for the NBPA to accept the NBA’s most recent offer. Word is, if the NBPA declines the offer, the NBA has threatened to cancel the entire 2011-2012 season and immediately counter with a worse offer. How has the player’s union responded?
By calling on votes to decertify, wich also guarantees the cancellation of the season.
This is just about as bad as it gets. Things aren’t looking good right now.

I’ve generally avoided writing anything about NBA players going overseas to sit out the lockout because really, who gives a shit? However, this should be of particular interest to us Cavs fans.
A few weeks ago there was the news that J.J. Hickson has signed to play in the Israeli league for B’Nei Hasharon. It was partly a big deal because J.J. would be playing alongside with the man he was traded for, Omri Casspi. Now it’s a big deal because he’s been cut after playing just one game (where they got blown out by a team without any NBA players might I add) for missing two straight practices.
That Hickson/Casspi trade is looking pretty decent right now. It’s pretty telling that after all the crap J.J. took from Coach Scott about his attitude and the importance of practice that he immediately slips back into his old behaviors. Hopefully I don’t regret writing this, but this makes me feel a lot better about that deal.
